The Coffee Shop Is the New Country Club

Miami Vibes argues the neighborhood coffee shop has replaced the country club as the city''s social headquarters — and puts Crema at the center of it.

Miami Vibes made an argument we recognize from behind the counter: the neighborhood coffee shop has quietly taken over the job the country club used to do. It is the office, the meeting room and the clubhouse, and it costs the price of a coffee to join.
"With nearly 30 locations across South Florida, Crema Gourmet has found itself right in the middle of it."
The piece described a weekday better than we could:
"Walk into Crema on any given weekday and you may find someone conducting a Zoom meeting two tables away from friends catching up over cappuccinos, while another guest is ordering lunch and somebody else has been staring very seriously at a laptop for 90 minutes."
On the menu — "Crema's menu stretches from handcrafted coffee and matcha to all-day breakfast and Mediterranean-inspired dishes, making the café work for several different moments throughout the day." And on one operational detail most chains don't bother with:
"Rather than depending on a central commissary kitchen to supply prepared food across its locations, Crema says its food is prepared fresh at each café daily."
"What began as a neighborhood café has expanded to nearly 30 locations across South Florida, with more on the way."
